Where is the best place to market this idea?

Hi - we've just come down off our success with Call-in-sick.com. We've just released a new project codenamed Yoo-Hoo, a simple free-to-use tool that you place in your email or blog signature (see mine below). Aimed at people on the go, social networkers or if you simply don't like disclosing personal phone numbers in your emails or blogs, Yoo-Hoo simply provides a way for people to contact you without you providing any personal information.

Any ideas on where to market this idea? Some of the blog sites we promoted call-in-sick.com through havent bitten yet.

    Thx.

I would concentrate on using a press release to push this idea.

I would have to agree. This kind of idea would probably do well with a well-written press release.

Find better title than Untitled-2 for it. The idea is interesting, but only press releases and advertising on MySpace might help. Perhaps you might try to contact some people who has account on MySpace to try it... advertising to MySpace might be really expensive.

And I'm not sure how to earn with such a website. Perhaps email marketing techniques, AdSense cannot work at such website in my opinion.

Hey thanks for picking that up. Right now it's in Beta so the page was just thrown up for the time being. The technology is actually just to bring additional cutomers to our main site group2call.com, which is where all of our revenue comes from. For example, when call-in-sick.com was covered on a bunch of TV stations we had a stipulation in there that they had to mention group2call.com. Worked wonders..

Not a bad idea. I'd opt with a press release, and submitting it to various PR websites, along side a submission to Digg.

Try and get your a more attractive and eye catching forum signature happening. You'd be surprised at how much they help.

Another viable option in establishing an image for your website, is getting a few banner ads made up and have them placed on a few forums.

If you've got some money to spend, you might want to head down the Adwords route too.

    Goodluck :)

They've been very helpful in a lot of my previous ventures. They're capable of a lot more than most people give them credit for.

Yes, forums tends to have many users and AdSense performs bad on forums, so forum webmasters usually rents banners on them quite cheap comparing to visits. So, it actually might be an good idea to rent some forum banners. It migth bring you quite cheaper traffic than AdWords.

Anyone know how to promote something like this on MySpace? I'm thinking with some tweaks (like allowing you to be contacted only by your MySpace friends) it could become a useful tool for networking within the MySpace world.

If you have the right budget, hire a PR person for media exposure. An intern might do it too. Good idea and new product, you will do well in pressrooms. Press release will be great only if you pay for top distribution. Good luck!

When you will be ready to release, you can try to ask for a review in this forum :

Currently it's US & Canada but we're working on a European version (UK first) as we speak.
