Hey, any one out there able to get to paypal? I tried to buy a motherboard via ebay and the guy only takes paypal. Not usually a problem, but now I can't pay for the thing. When trying to get to paypal from any link or just by typing it in all I get is "Looking for paypal.com". It's like even the DNS entry is gone!
Paypal is working fine here. I am from India. Try to remove all browser cookies and restart your browser then type www.paypal.com DON.
I've tried that twice already, even flushed my DNS, re-registered and rebooted. Nothing. I even tried it on a different computer. I still got the same results for nearly 18 hours now: Nothing.
Check if your hosts file is hacked... C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts it should look like this. # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp. # # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one # space. # # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol. # # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host 127.0.0.1 localhost Code (markup):
No, my hosts file is not hacked. Nice try though. I wonder how many people will see this and ask: "Hey, what the heck is a hosts file?"
Try access paypal through a webproxy such as http://www.hidemyass.com/ if it works, then your ISP or your country has blocked paypal.
Another good idea, but unsuccessful. My ISP is TW Cable, they don't block anything. My country is USA, they don't block anything either, at least not longer than it takes to call and tell them to knock that shit off. hidemyass couldn't find it either, "redirection failed." I'm starting to get paranoid. I need this MB I'm trying to buy, and besides, I got money in there. Not to mention, I have a site that uses Paypal for payment processing.
Okay... it works perfectly fine for me. Are you absolutely sure the url is correct? https://www.paypal.com/ I have no freakin idea what's happening to your comp. Edit: Okay, I logged in and found something. We will be performing maintenance on the PayPal site between 16:30 AEDT and 19:30 AEDT. The site will be unavailable during that time. Thank you for your patience. Code (markup): Try again tomorrow if it still doesn't work.
There's nothing wrong with my computer. I have several computers here, none of them can get there. I even logged in SSH to my webhost, which is physically located in Houston Texas, that's about 1500 miles away, and couldn't ping from there either. Right now, as far as I can tell, there is no www.paypal.com accessible from the continental United States. If they're doing maintenance, then I should be getting a "down for maintenance" page.
PayPal is going through system maintainance. Try after 2-3 hours later. I got a notification in my PayPal that they will be working on it for 3 hrs. So relax and don't panic
They are not taking the PayPal down globally. Think they are doing in parts so that people don't face any inconvenience
Maybe you are right but then why he is getting 'Looking for paypal.com' instead of notification 'PayPal is going through system maintainance'
Well, then it might be the problem with his connection..... this is what i got : We will be performing maintenance on the PayPal site from 11:00 IST to 14:00 IST. The site may be unavailable during that time. Thank you for your patience. Code (markup):
it also works from me. it could also be a problem from his ISP. maybe ISP blocked access to PayPal or maybe PayPal banned an entire class of IPs because they abused it.
i just logged out from my paypal.... so i guess if the computer is working fine then it could be paypal block certain IP range like e-gold... try to access from a different ISP maybe...
