    Hi...

I have launched a new website about 4 months ago. The last 2 month I haven’t worked (didn’t add new content) to this site. I did build a few links.

Last month I had nearly 2000 unique visitors.

This month is much slower and I will be lucky if I have 500 unique visitors for August.

Could this lost of traffic be caused by not updating the site, or what could have caused it?

Thanks for all the help DP members.

Possibly, some SE's like fresh content more than others, do you have stats installed on your site so you can see where people are coming from and what keywords you were found for or what links from others sites have been popular, if you dont know where your traffic comes from you won't know what has gone wrong or where to look when it drops.

Maybe you dropped in the rankings
Maybe you had a prominant link on a popular site that's now less prominant.

It's a good idea to track your rankings in SEs, so when your traffic go down you know which SE was, and it will be easy to identify the cause of your traffic drop.

Try installing tracewatch.com , it keeps very good records of where the traffic comes from and how it goed over your site.

I am using tracewatch too, and I think it is one of the better (free) scripts out there.
