Where is my site in Google and why does it always change?

A few months ago I decided to try to get my site into the top 10 for "Chat Rooms" in Google.com (USA).
Well, it only took me about a month to get onto the second page (I was already doing well for chat related keywords).
My site eventually went up to about 15. I decided to throw myself a party when it made it to the 1st page (top ten).
Well, a few weeks ago it did make it to number 10. I got all excited. But within an hour it dropped back down to 14.
Since then, it keeps moving between 10 and 15, sometimes numerous times a day. I still haven't thrown myself that party (and I really want a party ;-)

The other thing is that different keyword ranking tools show totally different results. I realize that there are different datacenters, etc. and different geographical locations will show different results.

So I'm hoping that some kind and generous members can tell me what they see. Where in the world am I ranked in Google.com (USA) for "Chat Rooms"? Five different keyword ranking tools tell me 5 different things.
My site is: http://www.ustillup.com and the title is: Singles Chat, Dating and Hook Up

And maybe somebody can tell me why all the ups and downs....???

    Thanks!

you are too focused on small changes like "10 to 15". But google position is rarely stable, especially if you have a newer site and do link building. Furthermore, your competition might also bring some movement and move your site around. I have also seen rankings on some of my sites bouncin up and down WITHIN HOURS. It would be a different story if your rankings would go from #10 to #100 or so...

Alas, I must agree. My earnings have been going up regardless, so for this I must be happy. Nevertheless, I still like to make tangible goals to try to attain. This keeps me focused. I also like to pick a site and try to beat it. This too keeps me focused.

    Jason,

At 1519 MST from Phoenix on 6-7-2010 your site is at #10. Have your party... am I invited? :)

I agree with George "too focused on small changes like "10 to 15". "

There are way too many factors involved in Google ranking to give you an intelligent answer
to why so much movement and why so quickly. Just go with the flow and sweat the small stuff.

Congrats on #10 and where is that party anyway maybe I'll just crash it. LOL

I think that's normal as other websites also do seo and that's the reason why they sometimes go higher than yours. Just build backlinks faster to be higher than them.

Keep building quality backlinks for your site by doing link exchange, article submission, social bookmarking etc.

This is quite normal with new websites.
Just keep the good work and you'll be there soon :)

    Good luck.

I guess this is something totally depends on Google. My site based on 2 keywords ends up on Google's 1st and 2nd pages but every day it moves up or down by 1 - 4 places.
The best SERP ranking tool I found is SerpSlurp. Based on it your site is on page 3 for the term "chat rooms".
