First learn basics of jquery from here: http://jqfundamentals.com/chapter/jquery-basics once you got a good understanding of what jquery is and how it works then the next most important thing is events in jquery that you should learn from here: http://learn.jquery.com/events/ once you are done with events then you are free on your on and start working on projects. Best way to learn is often to find a project / problem you need to solve, then try to figure out how to solve it. Start by building a webpage, for example, with proper coding, css etc. Then add ajax-calls, sliders, animations, fadeins, etc. for the content, as you see fit. Every little bit will teach you something more about how to use jQuery.
