So where is a good place to find quality writers, not your regular $3-5 per article, but real high quality, professional content?

Elance.com is by far the best place to find good writers. I have got a few who normally write for me. The good copywirters can write amazing sales pages for you and yuo will not regret that you paid them.

Honestly, the best place to find decent writers online who aren't a part of the masses would be Google. Search for the type of writer you're looking for, and you should come up with some portfolios.

They also hang out in various communities online like the forums at www.absolutewrite.com, Deb Ng's www.freelancewritinggigs.com blog, Anne Wayman's www.aboutfreelancewriting.com blog, and at www.allfreelancewriting.com (disclaimer: that site is my own). I know Deb and I post free ads, and you can do the same on the forums (not sure about Anne). We all get lots of lurkers who don't come out publicly, but who monitor the job postings to respond when they're interested, so posting ads that way could put the gig in front of more qualified writers.

Hey Jenn, pmed some of the people you recommended, but haven't received a reply yet, I guess they don't frequent DP.

checking out the writers forums sounds like a good idea. Looks like absolutewrite.com forums don't have many freelancers though.

There is a large community of lurking freelancers on Absolute Write, it's extremely popular in an underground way. Also, I think FreelanceSwitch is still hosting job ads for free and I'm pretty sure they get more traffic than Ab Write (that's what Alexa infers anyway).

There are some talented kids to be found on gumtree.com Many students go there, so you are more likely to get a native english speaker write for you.

I think it depends on what you need done. GAF tends to be full of people who are not native English speakers (provided you want English content) and work for unreal pricing. Elance tends to only reward those who have been very well established and have been with them forever, it's hard as a writer to get your foot in the door there.

I'd say here and some of the other forums, as well as blogs. As both a site owner and copy writer, I see things from both sides. One of the best long-term jobs I landed (and still write content for on a very regular basis) I found through the Jobs Board at problogger.net. I would also think the Jobs board at freelanceswitch.com would be a good resource, since those seeking work can post for free, writers need to pay to have access to the content, it keeps a lot of the fluff writers out of the picture.

Craigslist can also be a great resource, especially if you need someone locally.

In the year or so that I've been focusing more on writing for others than for myself, I've found that most people paying for content don't want the $3-6 / 500 word articles that are floating around the FS forums on so many message boards, they'd rather pay 2-10x that amount for a really high quality, article, even if it takes an extra day to turn it around.

yep focusing on quality pays off. Cheap article are good for directory submissions though and other similar link building campaigns.
I mostly need some affiliate product review articles, or informational articles on health and finance related niches.

Well if you need finance-related, check with Y.L. Prinzel or LaToya here. Not sure how active LaToya is at the moment, but Yolander posted here, so I know she's around at least (speaking of which Yo, you will be getting some goodies via email tonight... finally).

Elance.com and forums like DP are the most crowded portals and the probability of finding a good writer is very very high here. Also one thing to be taken care of is that writers who charge low rates might not really provide good quality work a lot of times.

You can find them on DP, on freelance sites and also posting ads on Craigslist.

No single site is going to be the best at all times for hiring top level writers. I've found great writers at Getafreelancer, Elance, Amazon Mturk etc, but have found just as many bad writers as well. Whatever site you choose just make sure to check over their work before sending them a large project to complete.

    Regards

I don't think there would be any place where we'll be finding just quality writers. There would be professional writers at Elance, scriptlance, geta, and the such ... But to find a good one, you should be searching for quality writers and not places to get quality writers. I'm damn sure there won't be even a single site where you'll be finding just the so called "quality article writers". These regions will be surely flooded with writers like the ones we can see here and the many such sites.

What I wanna advice you is that :-

---> You should be finding individuals and not sites. For that, you could either approach people over here or you could try your luck in the content creation forum. Asking people to name the "quality article writers" with whom they have worked in the past would be a great idea. This way, you'll be with at least some names to filter out the good ones ...
