Of those who advertise ppc on Google, Yahoo, and/or MSN (profitably) how many do you think are n00bs? I agree people can and do make money with PPC. However there is a great deal of complexity and money involved meaning irresponsibility will quickly kill the budget of the new guy. I think of PPC as being for more experienced people; more so than other advertising tactics.

Agreed, Joe. But it can easily be learned quite quickly. It's not rocket science. And it doesn't have to cost a lot of money. Hell, not even close.

But the bottom line is that just about all webmasters want to make enough money to either quite their job or pay their rent, and it cannot be done any other way. So it's either that, or they just use their site as a hobby, or settle for a sale that is far and inbetween, if that.

    That's it.

I know about all the forums...I have been marketing on the internet since it started...before that if you want to count the online services and bulletin boards of the 80s (yah the 1980s!)

I have yet to find and UNBIASED forum for internet marketers. 99% of them are cult of personality, where there are a few people who dominate it, and push out those who do not want to be in their "clique". I am a member of several of them, and on ocassion go an contribute, and also on ocassion grab a designer or programmer looking for work...but if you are a newb...I don't know of any that is specifically about internet marketing.

Here is the problem with 98% of Internet marketing courses, ebooks, forums, membership sites etc.

The people selling it do not make money from the METHOD, they make money selling the information.

It's like me telling you how to visit the moon, and I have this whole complicated book on how to make a spacesuit, and build the ship, and where to get the rocket fuel etc, but in the end...I PERSONALLY HAVE NEVER BEEN TO THE MOON, or EVEN OUTER SPACE!

Now I become a "guru" because i sell 1000s of copies, and people are talking about me as if they know me, and they tell others how smart I am and blah blah blah...I never tell you I have not been to the moon, i might even go so far as to imply I have done all these things...but sadly 85% of "gurus" out there are liars...especially if they are the king of some forum

Let me share something with you that most folk can't tell you. THey may have heard this, but don't understand it because 1) they are too young and the internet came about BEFORE they started making money or 2) they weren't doing this thing back then, even though they could have.

99% of internet marketing is based off of MAIL-ORDER Marketing techniques. Each year I see more and more "innovations" because these "gurus" go back to the basics and add it into internet marketing.

Mail order marketing has been popular and made many people successful since the 1950s

If you want to be a pro at internet marketing, go to the bookstore, or library and get any book written before 1990 that thoroughly explains how to do mail order marketing.

    thats the SECOND Best thing.

The BEST THING YOU CAN DO is find a mentor who is already doing it to show you the ropes.

    my 2¢
