Hello... Google shows in its search results sizes of searched pages (4kB, 10kB and so) But where Google gets this number? Google only downloads robots.txt and html files, but a size is more than only of a plain html. Does anybody have any suggestions?
I tried to search DP forums and I saw 72kb -> but it has about 18kb. Google isn't downloading css or images... so where it gets this number?
Jan; I am not sure from where you are pulling the 72 and 18kb respectively...I DO know that you are pulling it "real time", where G! is pulling it from whenever it cached it. Thus it is possible that G! could have cached it and then things changed. Here's an interesting thought, whatever the case Yahoos and Googles methodology seem to be the same...(at least they match up for mine and my competitors...) Best; Eric
I don't think DP forums homepage can change from 72kB to 18kB while several days (there is still appoximately the 'same' content). And in the cache (http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cach...alpoint.com/+digital+point&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1) it has less than 18kB (even with the added header).
I'm seeing 72.8K as the cache. Sometimes Google will report a smaller number because it removes whitespace, tabs, etc when it indexes a page so it can save space.
Oh, yes! You've got right. It has about 72kB, but my firefox writes me it has only 11kB... So the problem is solved - it's just in my browser Thankyou
