    Yes I know everything about SEO but never had a blog and never optimized it / positioned therefor I have asked because I tough that the traffic come from somewhere else.

    for the first time you want to get a traffik is from Search engine like google, yahoo, msn and other search engine
    second you can get traffik from social bookmarking website like technoraty, delicious, and other

    A blog is similar to normal websites but has additional functionalities like content management systems or news syndications. Anything that is online in nature, be it a normal informational website, ecommerce adapted, blog or whatever, traffic comes in similar ways. You can categorize traffic by the offer you have and not by the source.
