Where does one find the top search terms

So i've been reading about mahalo and how they claim the top 20,000 terms are accounting for 80%+ of all search traffic. Now my question is this: how does one find that list? Google trends is rarely updated, and it only has a small piece. Yahoo's buzz thing only gives like 20 results.

so where could i find this list? I'd like to see it ranked by volume of searches, but not sure if thats possible either. Did mahalo get inside info direct from google? how'd they figure out the term volumes across 20,000 topics?

why even bother with the list?

if you have a website why not concentrate on what you are trying to sell and market your service or product on the specific keywords that relate to your site...

i agree, why would you want to populate your meta tags and keywords with words that have nothing to do with what you are selling?

If im looking for a piano, I dont want to find sites selling baby clothes...

The poster didn't say he was going to stuff the top words in his meta tags/keywords. He may have his own reasons for wanting this data, maybe he's doing research, I don't know. Anyway check out this link:

I like Google Trends too as it'll give me an idea on a new subject to cover or at least to learn what everyone else is talking about. Of course, you can get way off of topic by covering subjects that have nothing to do with the theme of your site too.

hey guys, i have no intention of stuffing my pages with any of these terms. I was really just doing some research for curiosity's sake.

google trends only gives you a glimpse, not the whole picture.

freaky andy suggestion is good, on google trends use a term you can use as a base line for example, you know that "paranormal" gets 5000 searches a day and say your keyword is "blogger", type it into google trends like this

    paranormal,blogger

you'll now be able to compare the two for traffic volume.
