Where Does Ezine Get Its Traffic From, Cos I've Got a Problem.

I was just curious as to how ezine's newer articles always get more views then drop off. Do they have regular visitors to the site daily who always come back, or do articles show up in serps more on the first couple of days when people search for the phrase?

The reason that I ask is because my views typically remain the same, but my click thrus have all but dropped off, like from 25% to 1%. The articles are always very similar, and the resource box hardly ever changes, like I'll get amazing click thrus on it some days and others with the same resource box and a very similarly written and themed article can have the same number of views, but no click thrus.

This makes me wonder if its the same people coming back daily to read articles on this niche and they don't click thru cos they've seen my stuff before.

Any thoughts on this? This is important because I write a good number of articles for ezine and was doing alright with it but now my sales are drying up due to lack of click thrus.

Are you doing any keyword research to try to rank for your article in the SERPS? That could be your biggest problem.

The burst of initial traffic comes from listings in Ezine once your article gets published, but if you've done your keyword research correctly, ranking well in the SERPS will bring you continuous traffic over the long term.

Have to agree with UltimateFreebies, you have to ensure your articles are optimized for long-tail keywords with less competition if you want them to be long lasting. If you are posting articles on general or popular topics, they will constantly be replaced by newer articles from others.

I definitely do KW Research. I have a big list of words that I put together after using kw tools like google's and such and then I generally devote one article to each word. For a couple of niches I've done about 100 words/phrases each (with 100 articles), put them in the article a handful of times spread out, then even make one of my anchor texts that keyword. So I don't know what the problem is.

You'd think with that many articles and that many keywords that I'd start to build up a reliable number of clicks/traffic at some point.
