(I realize this may not be the correct forum to post this topic in so please move it if a more appropriate one exist)

I found these forums a few months ago, but didn't register until recently. I have been browsing the forums the last few days trying to gather tips and information for a new site I am working on.

It is a little easy to get overwhelmed by all the forum sections and post. I have been reading up on keywords, seo, serp, design, etc, etc, etc. From what I have gathered so far, some of these things you can't work on until others get taken care of.

So my question is simple. What steps should a new webmaster follow to have a successful site? I know "successful" can be measured in many different forms so here is a little background on my site and what I would like to accomplish.

My site is http://www.ccwifinews.com which stands for Corpus Christi WiFi News. It is a site designed to cover both the city-wide wireless network, but also municipal wireless in general. Municipal wireless is an exciting new technology that will be coming to many cities and counties over the next couple years. I would like my site to be a source of news for the many new applications and products that will be developed for city WiFi clouds. I would also like to generate enough revenue to pay for hosting cost.

Here are the steps I have taken so far.
    1. registered domain
    2. picked wordpress for content management
    3. tweaked layout of site
    4. generated content
    5. created adsense account and placed ads
    6. created google sitemaps account

I am continuing to generate content daily, but what steps should I focus on next?
