    There are a lot of free options out there - i would be loathe to use a google or flickr image that doesn not expressly say it is free for use. With all the truly free options, why take the risk?

    I can't post links but I know if you search bluevertigo on google you can find a site that has a goodlist of free/cheap stock photo sites as well as other web utlilities. Someone linked it to me when I asked a similiar question to this in another forum, and I use it pretty often.

    You can't just help yourself to images from Google Images. All images are taken by a photographer or made by a graphic designer and those people OWN the copyright to their images.

    You need to find a stock photography website that gives free stock images away - and you need to understand the license as there will still be some commercial limitations to use.

    In photography licenses, the terms "for commercial use" don't mean what you might think. If you have a website that you make money from, that isn't commercial use. Using the image to print onto a T shirt for sale is commercial use. Using an image on a book cover (e books) is not for commercial use.

    Hi everyone, just launched a new site and need lots of images/photos. Obviously they shouldnt be copywrited, and hopefully royalty free. I have looked at a few stock photo sites. Could anyone personally recomend a free, or good value site? The ones i have looked at are very expensive, just wondering if there is any other options out there? :)

    http://www.fotosearch.com is a good site but you need to purchase the images

    also they are quite pricey, i will keep a look out for you

    What an excellent thread! I have a hard time finding free photo stock, when you google free photo stock you get a crap load of "Royality FREE Photo Stock" with hefty price tags. So thank you everyone for contributing!
