Google has said that they don't like reciprocal links since they skew the search results and that if you have too many you will be penalized.

60% from Google search 10% from Yahoo search 5% direct 25% from advertising It varies. Every so often I get hundreds from Stumble or Digg and then back down to reality.
Jeez, I get very little from MSN. Why wouldn't I get most of my traffic from Google? They're the most popular. That doesn't make sense to me.
As long as a website allows you to build a link and they do not prohibit you (via antispam prohibitions) from building links to go to outside sites you can advertise there. With this guideline, a huge CHUNK of the web is your traffic source. Find your demographic, find where they hang out online, filter the sites re the criteria above, and WORK WORK WORK. Just remember to BRAINSTORM!
Too many is relative....And conversely, how many pr5/6/7/8/9 sites do you know of that have very few if ANY IBL's (in bound links?) Google doesnt want people gaming the system. They built it, and it loses value every time someone gets over on it. ps- people (google and others) also say outbound links are bad and bleed off pr...such bs...yet so many people believe it. Answer: TEST, and the truth will set you free.
My traffic comes from directories, forums, blogs and only a little bit from search engines. The search traffic will increase as my site ages though.
Google has the highest market share of the search engines so why should we get more traffic from yahoo or msn?
well lets see why" number one more people search for products on Yahoo then Google" you can never tell Yahoo and google are both searched randomly its a known trend.
