Where do you get products to sell on ebay?

I know allot of people make money selling stuff on ebay.
Do you use drop shippers or do you have a wholesaler?
I've looked around and find it very difficult to locate manufactures
to buy from. I've looked at a couple of affiliate programs but everyone is selling cheaper then them on ebay.
Any suggestions for getting products to sell on ebay?

You have to find out yourself. Why would someone want you to get into their market?

Some categories on eBay are extremely competive (similar to how some keywords are for AdWords). Unless, you have a good connection to a manufacturer, I would advise to stay out of highly competitive categories. Try to find a nice niche where you can specialize in. Once you have selected your niche, look up what requirements are for manufacturers to sell to you directly. You'll be surprised, that even some big time names, will be willing to deal directly with you.
This advice might be a few years old (last time when I had to deal with physical merchandise), but try to avoid huge distributors like Ingram-Micro, since pretty much anyone with a business licence can buy from them and you margins will stay razor-thin.

We've had some successful sellers on Bidera for very specific products.

Oh yeah and lest I forget, eBay might be the biggest auction site by far, but there other auction sites out there, where you can diversify to. Some of the niche auction sites do quite well.. *wink*

    You guys are funny,
You could say something like go to some conventions and talk with people.
Or something nice like that. But Ono
You do have a point tho. No one wants to give away their source.
Maybe someone who use to sell on ebay or have you tried any of those infomercials on the TV?
Very nice Bidera, I will check out your action site thanks.

Well, it's posible to find manufacturers that ship items in smaller quantities but you have to search a lot to find them.

About a year ago I studied the posibility of selling stuff on ebay too, and researched a lot about it. Never did it because it was kind of hard for me because I dont live in USA, I live in Panama. Anyway, I compiled a VERY LONG LIST of sites where you can get products. Here is that list, the firsts sites are the best in my opinion.

http://www.liquidation.com They are like ebay but for wholesale products. You can find products here cheaper that in ebay.
http://www.govliquidation.com/ This is a partner site of liquidation.com
http://www.thomasnet.com/index.html Here you can find more companies to deal directly with
http://www.wholesaleauction.com/ Another wholesale auction site. You can find good prices here too.
http://www.wholesale411.com/ Wholesale website and its forum http://community.wholesale411.com/index.php This is a very active wholesale forum. You can find good info here.

This are sites that dropship their products. I have not checked this links in a while so it's probably that some of them dont work. There are also some wholesale directories on this list

I don't look, because I'm only going to find what everyone else is looking for.

I only really sell what I have as interests. If you like football, do football stickers/football web TV things/football shirts/football autographs and programmes. If you like RPG games, sell gold/ingame characters accounts/cd-keys. If you like horseriding... ok, you get the idea.

I can't say I've looked at all those wholesale/dropshipping websites, but I know it's normally pretty risky and low profit margins to say the least. Remember, the best ideas come when you're not trying to think of them :)

I have had VERY good luck with collectibles. However, to make this work you must work. I goto area actions and buy in lots. I might pay a $1 or $50 allot you just never know. I then get together around 200 items, and post them all at once for 10 days with no reserve price. Doing this I make out well and I have a whole BARN full of junk... I mean goods... I am having a another ebay action soon and I will post here when I do so you can see first hand how well this works...

I sell digital goods. Nothing beats no inventory and instant gratification :)

    Ebooks... links... script... software....

All that stuff sells and is the easiest thing to do

Wow. Talk about searching on Google for wholesaler directories and coming across this thread from many moons ago. Well, I noticed several of the wholesale sources previously listed and saw that several of them are no-longer in business or seem outdated.

After doing too much research on wholesale suppliers and distributors, I was able to come up with these updated sources:

http://www.wholesaledir.com - Wholesale Suppliers and Distributors Directory
http://www.toptenwholesale.com - Wholesale Search Engine and Information
http://www.surp.com - Below wholesale products and wholesalers directory
http://www.wholesalerc.com - Wholesale Products and Dropshippers Directory

You could search inventors/patent forums for people who are just creating and manufacturing their new product and try to work out a deal with them.

Like you said, the problem with all these drop shopping products is there are 100's of others selling the exact same thing on eBay.
