Where do they get images of cartoon persons with a big head?

Hello,

Would you guys help me to find the source of the images of "cartoon" persons (boys and girls) with a big head and rather small body. I can see many such images all over the web, and that looks like those are free to use.. correct??

e.g. see the examples of what I mean

at this WP theme (boys in header and boys/girls in right navigation):

no, I am NOT looking to order custom ones. I'm looking for ready-made ones, preferably a free collection of those images.

People sketch them by hand and then do coloring using software

 

no, they are not custom, I see the same faces/images on many different sites..

does anybody know where those images come from?

I think the word you're looking for is caricatures, try searching for that.

to Hecky: I'll try "caricatures", thanks! though I do not think those are caricatures, I suppose that is a kind of morden trend in cartoon images/characters..

aren't here any graphics designers who actively use the mentioned images?
I saw some templates for sale on these forums that used exactly the images I am looking for..
