How can I find out where my web visitors come from, without having an ugly link to a stats site?
My hosting service only tells me how many hits, but if i knew where people were coming from I could know where to consontrate my efforts.

Does your server provide you with the raw stat logs?

    Hello Sleepy,

    I use these people www2.hitslink.com/addme/
no links just a bit of code in each page you want to track - you can see domain/ip of
visitor, referring site how they navigated through your site etc.
They give a 1 month free trial then you have to pay amount depending on page views

Be sure to also check out
    http://addfreestats.com

I haven't used them yet I checked out the demo. Besides the ANNOYING google adsense ads, it seems decent.

I can definitely say that statcounter is great and has had many improvements over the past year.

For free, you can't complain too much :)

I use this as well. Tells you an awful lot more than just where they come from. Even some SEO related stuff like the keywords and SE's they used.

I did recently discover (on a cached version of our page in Google) that they hide a link back to their homepage. Not sure as to whether to be worried about this or not but hey, it's free. And they are PR10 because of it.
