Where do I get the appropriate Google API Key?

When I create a new account for the keyword tracker tool, I am asked for a Google API Key. There is a link to get a new key, but once I create a new Google account (or login to an existing one), I am presented with SEVERAL Google APIs. I took a guess that perhaps I needed the SOAP API, but Google says they are no longer issuing those keys, so I selected AJAX. I got that key and plugged it into the GOOGLE API Key field, and now I get an error when I attempt to add keywords: Exception from service object: Invalid authorization key: ABQIAAAAMX4YU58f61ziq8Zt__JIpBSuDTY8zOpj-JWoYKY17SnUrrzPihSxskNuzsRwofe6IYoZxeCO4d2MkA

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

Google dont offer the SOAP API anymore, altough ppl who already have a code can continue to use it. The SOAP API is being replaced by AJAX API but the digitalpoints havent updated the software to account for this yet although I beleive that they are aware of this.

 

Has anyone had a go at using what is returned from google's ajax api for purposes related to displaying rankings? I guess I'll go check it out and see what they have given us... surely this is enhancement google and not a step backwards!

 

From what I understand it works in a similar fashion but if your using software then they need to change their methods for it to work.

i just registered the tool sets to check on google backlinks,etc,etc.. I basically, like the tools you have presented, and id like to try them all one at a time. however, i have to spend like 40 mins checking where this google API key can be found.. i finally, arrived at your forum where some people are also discussing about API... finally, after several tries, I got the API Key.

I was realy happy to be able to login and create an account, and finally, test the tool.. Unfortunately, after clicking what I think is appropriate... few minutes after, I got a message that says:

The request returned the following error:
Exception from service object: Invalid authorization key: ABQIAAAAOwzKPTdBlXLfjmy2FqKJExSCXwLvNRGX_WTrIRYJE99dIfabiBTjjNHdgv4qYJFlH0qDLOy6zfxBHw

I am really confused. Because, I just copied and pasted the code from where it originated. And I have already made my multiple tries and still the error is the same.

I know this are simple steps, as simple as it is, Id like to really use and apply the tool, but, this errors are blocking me.
