Hello, My eBook is based on Ethical Hacking and Security. I have tried getting reviews from a few hacking blogs. Some worked. And many didn't reply. Ethical hacking being a small niche, wasn't easy to find any affiliates or paid product review writers. Can someone suggest where I can find affiliate for this niche or are there any affiliate marketers interested here in selling a ethical hacking eBook? Also, can you suggest ways for hunting product reviews? (I've searched and contacted close to 50 blog owners with good traffic through google and the response has been very unsatisfactory). Regards, Sai
Hi there. Have you looked at Clickbank for selling your ebook and getting affiliates? I would seriously consider it. As for reviews, you could search for reviews of similar products but in a slightly different and larger niche, then contact those folks to see if they'd be interested in a review copy. You could also sell your ebook on Amazon and seek reviews that way.
I find myself saying this often lately, but you should simply stick a donate button on your site and let folks pay what they want for it. Then wrap it up in a torrent file and send it up the pirate channel. You can put it front of more people by orders of magnitude in matter of minutes. You have to upload said file with a proper "human and awesome" description etc. but give the peanut gallery the benefit of the doubt. I pay for all sorts of stuff simply cause its DRM free for example. hope that helps, Nigel
Now that I think about it. You can quickly borrow a few kickstarter ideas perhaps and offer something extra on the site like pdfs that come with it etc. and provide a bit of added value while you are at it. N.
Have you thought of maybe providing the first 5-10 pages as free material (assuming your eBook is longer than that)? You might have luck getting some traffic to it that way and making becoming an affiliate easy on your website, as well as maybe turning some of that content into a presentation and uploading it to slideshare dot net which gets decent views from my experience.
I do have a sample version. Where I provide a few pages. But I'm skeptical about slide share as not many visitors see it and almost none are potential buyers. And I don't see how this would still draw in Affiliates.Isn't this more of promoting sales thing?
Really solid information in this thread. I saw TWO excellent pieces of advice: - offer it up as a sample - add a "donate" button and invite people to pay what they want I think these are both great ideas. I'd also tool around and reach out to various blogs and other publications in your sphere to see about partnering up. Native advertising is a great idea for you, since your product is kind of the same thing that the advertisement would be. You should around the white hat hacking sphere and see if you can do some awesome guest posts on some of the most popular blogs. This is a great way to include a call-to-action and get more peoples' eyeballs on your book. This might be a stronger tactic than just asking for a review, since it's a two-way street. They give you some space to rep your product, kinda, and you give them some top-quality content in return. Totally goes both ways - this might be why you're having some trouble soliciting reviews from the leading blogs in your space, but I don't have all the information about what kind of tactics you're using and suchforth. Also, this approach helps you to expand your influence as a brand. Social proof is amazing, and getting reviews helps a ton. But so does producing MORE content to supplement and append your book. Use that content as a springpad. Offer it up to other blogs and such, so that you continue to boost your presence as a thought-leader and source of influential insight and information within your space. Also, you should totally see what kind of information you can capture as people download your book. Make them give you their name and email address. If you're rocking a blog and such -- you should be, it seems like you're trying to make yourself some money as an industry expert/consultant type -- then you've got a great opportunity to start building an email list and a following. Then, you can reach out to people who have downloaded your book and see who wants to do a review. But incentivize this! When you give something back, folks will be a million times happier to do stuff for you. Hope this helps! Best of luck.
A couple of things... 1) have you considered looking into making a Kindle version or something that could work with iPhones, tablets...etc. 2) Clickbank isn't the only ebook affiliate site. For example, Have you also looked into eBooks.com? Best of luck!
Have you listed on affiliate directory sites? Here's a quick list: http://www.affiliateseeking.com/ http://www.associateprograms.com/ http://www.twistdirectory.com/ http://www.affiliatescout.com/ http://www.affiliateguide.com/ http://www.affiliateranker.com/ You may also want to check out sites like ClickBank. JVZoo is another one that comes to mind in addition to Paydotcom. Whether or not any of these will work for you depends on what you offer your affiliates. However, that should be enough to get you started.
