I have a website i recently launched.... www.ratethecoach.com. Its been up for about 2 years but recently just did a re-design. I've been doing some social marketing and have been getting about 20-40 hits/day on average. I checked my analytics this morning and showed that 139 hits almost all of which came from search. Can someone tell me where this spike might have came? I checked the location of the views and they seemed to be spread out all through america. Here is a screen shot http://twitpic.com/1bqzqc
Could be a few different things: Under your analytics account click on the website that is getting traffic then go to the "traffic sources overview" box click on "veiw report" then under the sources click on whichever source is giving you the most traffic (it should be a blue hyperlink like "google.com") once you click it, then analytics will show you what term or page is bringing in the traffic
That's a hard question to answer. Regardless of what the reasons are, I'm sure that you are enjoying it quite nicely.
If you have been adding new content to it you might be getting high ranked for some new keywords that you didn't even know or some long tailed keywords that people type in are bring up your site. In your analytics click on keywords and you may see some long tail keywords. Some of the long tail keywords that bring up my site make me laugh I will give you an example that came up two different times from different people about a week a part there search was similar to each other this is what it was If I win the lottery do they check if I have a warrant my site came up on page 2 but it was a long tail keyword that made it come up.
