Where can i start this type of Thread ?

    Actually i m an mechanical engineer so i want to discuss something about mechanical softwares like Autocad, Pro-e, Catia, Ansys etc.

    So please DP members tell me so that i dont get the infraction by saying that Thread started in wrong catagory.

    It's still design-related software, so I'd suggest putting it graphics and multimedia.

    I'm not aware of these programs being used in web development though.

    It doesn't matter if they're used in Web development, as the forum description doesn't specify that topics have to be related to anything more than "anything related to graphics, video, sound, etc.". They're "design" software. They deal with graphics (I studied mechanical engineering myself for a few years, so I'm quite familiar with the use and output of CAD software). They therefore should go with other graphics-related discussions. We don't have a specific forum for things like that, as it really wouldn't apply to most webmasters. The graphics and multimedia section is the most relevant section here. If you want to talk about software that's not specifically design-related, then general chat or other tools would probably be your best bet depending on what it is.
