I want a cloaker script that will send real visitors on to my site and which cloaker script is best to use. Will it be useful for my site?
Ralph and Dirk at www.fantomaster.com are really friendly and professional guys - but you really need to know what you are doing with cloaking to pull it off well. I spoke to someone last weekend who lost 100 domains and 40% income due to bad in-house cloaking.
I have to agree with Brian here. I also hope that you are cloaking your OWN sites, and not those of a client. A bad white hat will by and large not damage your business, but a bad black hat can wipe you out in a matter of days. Cloaking is not as easy as rewriting meta tags, nor is it as repairable. My advice is that if you are serious about cloaking and your talking about any sort of revenue here, then speak to a professional about it. Unlike white hat methods you can not learn cloaking on the fly by trial and error, as once the trial is over your found guilty and the site/sites sentenced to instant death <OWG adds that he does not get involved in cloaking or other black hat stuff other than to test it out on his own site specifically set up as tests and as such do not matter>
i am not seroius about cloaking,i just heard about it and asked in this forum, whether it is useful or not ,as i didn't have any idea about it. Thanks I_brain and OLD WELSH GUY
Stumbled yesterday upon a site where the guys were claiming to rack big bucks from cloaking. It appeared they were not some script kiddies, but rather better established. It also seemed to be a well referenced / linked site. Sorry but the name and domain got completely lost from my mind since. Neverthelesss... Their company site and others seemingly connected were not cached in Google. (Though, that still says zero, maybe the sites they actually implemented it on is ranking well, who knows.)
If you're looking for a great script to get you intorduced to cloaking, may I suggest www.searchenginecloaker.com Again, as others have said - do it on your own sites... Not that of a client.
As H.L. Mencken said: "Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit upon his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats."
Precisely.. besides, cloaking is actually a very effective way of ensuring optimal content reaches it's target. I think we all know it's wise to differentiate between MSN and Google for example. Forget the ethos bollox and get down to the logic. Cheers, JL
If your cloaking then it is imperative you do not allow the search engines to hold a public cache, or else your competition will view it and report you. You have to realise that what Google can see, and what Google shows client facing are not always the same. Page rank in the toolbar is out of date the moment it is updated in the toolbar, Backlinks are another snapshot and are again less than worthless. Cache is again not the same. If there is no cahce tag used then Google WILL cache the page in its index, it will not allow it to show client side. Personally I see no problem with discussing it although it WILL result in sites getting banned, make no doubt about it, as unless you know what your doing you will leave a trail and be gone in the blink of an eye. Many cloaking scripts use user agent cloaking which is absolute bollox, if your cloaking then you should use IP cloaking. This means that the common user will not even be able to detect it, as their IP will never be a google owned IP. I just have a funny feeling though that this discussion will not in fact go where the original poster wanted it to, it will rather end up as a debate over what is and isn't acceptable use of claocking. EG the able to know mod that hides signature links from guests (spiders are guests), or the way VB & IPB hide certain things from spiders but show them to members, is THIS cloaking? In the true meaning of the word there can be no doubt, showing different content to users and spiders IS cloaking. Is it wrong? WELL that is quite another debate. lol
I'm using IP based cloaking on one of my sites. All IP's get 301'd to another web site, except for a list of 3 IP's which still need to access the original web site. Technically, I believe this is cloaking. Nonetheless, it should pass all of the white-hat ethical tests. Googlebot and all other search engine robots get the same content as every huan user on the Internet. Only 3 old partner sites get the old web site.
