    If I understood you well you are looking for a LIST of most popular words. There are a number of services that will give you this data. For example, WordTracker shows top 500 keywords, but I think the most valuable is Google Zeitgeist because of Google's dominant market share.

    As for a keyword research tool, I recommend Keyword Enchanter's free keyword research tool.

    You could use free keyword research tools. Then you can tell that a keyword is searched frequently by the number of searches for that certain keyword in a specific amount of time (compare the results to other KWs)
