I am looking for ebooks that I am allowed to send to people when they sign up for my mailing list. Does anyone know any sites that have free distributable ebooks. I will never try and sell any of these ebooks.
Well, my first stop would be the Gutenberg project. All the books there are in plain text format and are subjected to open license. If you take the time to convert some of them to PDF and acknowledge that you have taken the ebooks from there, you would probably have no problems. However most of the ebooks there though are out of copyright, "classic" books. It depends very much on what your newsletter is about to make this option work. Regards, George
How about if after they signed up for my ebook I just sent them a link to a site which has the ebook on it. So after they sign up I just email them a link to that ebook on someone else's site. I dont think theres anything wrong with this is there? I cant think of any ways this is illegal. Can someone help me out here?
Here's what I think...if you want to build good relationships with your list, you should atleast have the books hosted on your site. I mean why would I sign up to your site to get a book that I can easily download from Project Gutenberg. You always want to build good relationship with them and the first bonus or gift you send out is extremely extremely important. You really need to give them something Good. I'd say stuff you have written, books with resale rights (you need giveaway rights first) or a report you have written.
one step further would be to gather ebooks you can customize with your own affiliate information and then give those away, many places offer that as well.. do a search for free ebooks with resell rights. - Karlyn
