I have 27 Wordpress site and the best themes I have are ALL free! Have you had a good look at the free ones?

 

Premium theme always come with full support, so you can easy to customize it. But if you know about wordpress codex, I request you to develop your private wordpress using Blueprint or any framework. I'm doing that.

 

If you looking for a "few" website I think you will find much if you googled it.. it depends on the free themes or Premium one.

Have you considered thesis at diythemes, its about 87 bucks and it is a good framework. You can then get some nice skins at there site.
