Where can a writer offer his services for .02 and .03 per word and actually get it?

I am a native English speaker and can write with pretty good grammar. I think that my writing is/should be worth at least .02 or.03 per word. I research before I write my articles so they are not BS garbage.

Are there any places other than DP that I can offer my services at these rates and get hired? Don't get me wrong, I like DP very much and have gained more information from here than I know what to do with. Most of the people, however, seem to want to pay .01 per word or less for articles. There must be some better places to market our services out there.

    Thanks for the recommendations.

As it was mentioned in other threads. There is no reason for any writer to feel forced into receiving these low rates. If your competing for work with these writers who charge a penny or in some cases even less then your probably fighting with the wrong people.

Any webmaster or content buyer that purchases form these "cheap writers" are getting "cheap work". You can still get paid your rate here by buyers who are interested in getting the quality that they deserve.

It all goes back to you get what you pay for...pay for cheap and get cheap

they will come around and start to see that. My advice is get a website set up if you haven't already and and promote yourself.

Hmmm, a website, that sounds like a good idea. After all, if you are charging a "higher than most" price, samples of your work will most likely be requested.

So, to get the better rates on DP, do you simply post your services in the Content Creation section with your rates and expertise? I suppose that's probably it.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Everywhere and nowhere.

Show them why your writing is worth that rate and you will get paid that rate. Build up your credentials and portfolio, become more experienced and specialized, show them monetary results and so on.

.02 or.03 doesn't seem like much. Hard to imagine you can't get work at this rate.

Well, to be honest, I have just started marketing my services.

I have, however, seen many posts on this forum by people both wanting and writing articles for .01 per word or less! I simply assumed that if I asked a higher rate, I would be perceived as overpriced. I am now beginning to believe that there is a separate market for higher-grade content.

Time will tell as I see haw many responses I get from my offer.

If you're a high-quality writer, you have to be active in marketing yourself if you want to get business here at DP. Set up a website as a portfolio, put up two or three samples along with any testimonials you get, and link to it in your sig.

Also, look through the Content Creation BST forum on a regular basis. Sometimes people will post looking for decent writers rather than cheap writers. You just have to be proactive in finding those clients, not waiting for them to find you, until you get a great reputation.

It's definitely possible to get paid more than a cent per word here. :)

As I am a buyer, I would recommend you to provide sample articles that are on EZA or any article directories and those articles rank high on competitive keywords, and have high page views.

I would say, I can even pay $10 for each article that has significantly higher probability to rank high and generate good amount of traffic.

If you can do that, PM me.

You can try setting up a wordpress blog , put some articles on hubpages backlinking to your site - stick a few up on associated content too . If you're US based you can get upfront payments for writing articles on associated content. Hubpages pay you a small amount of adsense revenue earned from your articles.

Also sites like Elance, Guru , IFreelance all pay high rates for work . You always get people that want for nothing - but stick to your guns , and you'll soon start to get clients that pay rates that are reasonable.

Through your own professional site / portfolio. Get found in search engines and get referrals from others sent to your site and you can earn much more than the rates you mentioned.

That is something I really need to work on. That way, when someone needs a sample of my work, I can just send them there in most cases.

    Thanks for the advice all.

People will pay rates like that if your articles are good and specialized. Most writers I know that make good money specialize in something.

It is good if you know decent grammar and spelling but so do most people, so that's not worth that much.
The content you write has to be good and valuable to really be worth more then your average price that everyone works for.

I bought some expensive articles that other month on nutrition, they were good and full of good cutting edge info. The person that wrote them went to collage for nutrition, biology, physiology and has studied nutrition for 15-20 years.

That's the type stuff you won't get outsourced "I write on any niche" for .001 a word. So buyers will pay more.

That is true; specialization commands a higher price.

Don't settle for anything less than what you think is worth your price. I think if you do otherwise, you will never be able to get where you want to.

Really feel free to ask for what your price is.

And create a marketing plan. It works.

Go on craigslist.org and find some gigs for your self.

There are many craigslist search engines as well. Craigszoom.com and many more.

Digital Point is a waste of time. It does nothing for you as a writer. My minimum rate is $15 per 500 words and I get hired constantly. I just did a project last week that paid $50 for 750 words. I am not specialized in any particular niche, I don't have years of experience in any particular field, I don't spend a lot of time marketing myself, I don't even treat this as anything more than a hobby.

I just write damn good articles.

The best place to start in my opinion is ifreelance. If you take the time to write good proposals it is easy to get hired at rates that are actually worth your time. In my experience 75% of what gets you hired is taking the time to write a proposal that is thoughtful and personalized to the posted project, the other 25% is building a decent portfolio. As was mentioned before EZA is a great place to do this.

    Hope this helps.

Or you just don't know how to use it. If you can't use networking opportunities like DP to land higher paying gigs than the meat markets that are bidding sites, you just need to rethink your strategy. I've had clients here pay in excess of $1.00 per word for various marcomm projects, and $.35, $.50, and more per word for Web content and blogging. Being new, maybe you just haven't put enough effort in yet to see the rewards of being active in the underground market of webmaster communities.

Yeah, I've been trying to find work at this rate, but nobody wants to hire me.. :(
I mean its not that big of a deal for them a few dollars more, but it is really offending that people don't appreciate good writing skills anymore, because of some people who lower the standards very much.

The fact that we can't find a job per .02 / .03 cents per word is scary, because, I admit, even I would rather pay someone that offers me $0.1 per word, than someone that would charge me $0.3 for the same job...

    I am pathetic, aren't I? :'(

Let's say that the .03 writer has a great website, good reputation, many testimonials from satisfied clients, proof of great work in display in the form of published articles or samples, a style that you love, proof of results that he has produced for clients in the form of enhanced reputation or profit and so on.

And the .01 writer just has a thread saying that he is a great writer, and offers maybe one or two samples.

Who would you hire now? Given that you can afford to pay either person and given that you care about the quality of work?
