Where are the quality directories?

What happened to the quality directories with real directory domains that hasn't been dropped?

99% of the directories I see here are worthless, built overnight directories with no unique content.

This is exactly the reason why Google no longer respects directories.

 

There are still some quality directories out there, but most of them cost money. There are very few free quality directories.

 

I agree that most of them are low-quality directories, but we can't stop people making directories.

That's because there are a lot of "cookie cutter" sales of quickly made directories with duplicate content. The "real directories" you are referring to have been around a while, and are continually updated, not built, packaged and sold.

No one really knows what Googles beef with directories is. I will say this, they do not discriminate between good and bad directories. They pretty much shit on all of them. It really has little to no negative affect outside of that pretty PR bar in FF...

 

Are you talking about the directories of the people who frequent this forum? As that's how it reads to me.

If you're talking about the directories listed in S&A you should make your post there.

 

I do think Google discriminates between good and bad directories - the thing is they've really raised the bar on good directories. For example, BOTW and STPT are still doing well.

Yes, I meant the directories in S&A. Unfortunately, that forum is meant to solicit or announce new directories, not complain like what I'm doing.

There are a lot of good directories; though you may not find them many of them active on solicitations section.

 

You are correct. If a directory just copy other directories, it is useless.

 

Article Directories or link directories?

 

Quality directories are those that actually "reject" submissions. Their reviewers usually have strict guidelines and they actually "follow" those guidelines while approving sites. Quality directories are those that won't let you use just about any keyword as anchor text or in site description. Quality directories are those that actually "care" for its image and the directory/ search industry(...)

 

Find here the list of most alive directories.... 6500+ directories.

 

I have a few that have been around a while, totalXsearch.com, portal4music.com, portal4canada.com and directoryoffun.com

Would any off them be worth the time though, seeing as they are all low PR internal pages and an internal page with pr0 and 100 links is worth very little.

I guess if you mass submitted to all of them, It would be worth it.

I agree since now there are too many people are making directories. They just add tons of link on the directory and consider the directory "complete established". That's why 99% of them are worhtless
