Does anyone have current figures on the percentage of searches done on Google, MSN and Yahoo? After those giants which smaller search engines have any significant search traffic?

I posted this query at Band of Gonzos where there is a thread with some interesting usage stats on it. Surprised me just how much searching took place on Yahoo.

what about altavista its a major minor search engine, not as big as ask jeeves but certainly as big as alltheweb.

Plus it wont be askjeeves much longer only ask which i think is a stupid move by ask owners.

I would have to say that askjeeves comes in 4th. If I don't like the results I get with google, then I use the search engines in the exact order as above, yahoo, msn, askjeeves.

if you at the relationship, minor search engines are just being supplied by the major engines..search results on netscape is basically have the same results with google..

there's no need to search on those minor search engines since you will also get exactly those results from their provider...

I saw this link at Band of Gonzos and it shows how the search engines are related in terms of where they get primary & secondary search results, directory results and paid results.

I have seen similar reports before, but from what I have experienced, the search traffic from Google compared to msn when looking at the exact same keyterm in the exact same position, the Google searches are a lot higher than twice the msn ones.
