I have a search engine site I bought for $15 hoping it will do to google what Google did to Yahoo. I think the only person doing any search on there is me, myself and ummm myself.

On a serious note - buying and selling website is not just about what its doing now - but what potential it has in 3 years time. Like Real Estate. People buying sites want good site for the 10 to 12 months revenue - what they forget is the guy who owns the site juggled many ideas and then developed the site on continual basis - worked his butt off to bring the trafic it has now - and then the buyer wants it for peanuts just so that he can have the steady and handsome income from someone elses work.

As they say - if you pay peanuts - you get peanuts. And quite frankly the way you have described it; you want one in a billion kinda website - your budget of 100k is really peanuts for it.

    Good Hunting to you though.

You're going to have to sort through a lot of junk if you don't define your requirements more carefully.

Which niches are acceptable to you and which niches are unacceptable to you?

What amount of ongoing maintenance are you willing to invest in the site?

Are you interested in AdSense sites? Affiliate sites? Would you consider a site where you had to ship a physical product?

Defining what you want to buy will help you to receive offers which are more attuned to your requirements.

What revenue multiplier are you willing to come up with? If you're not willing to talk 5x on yearly revenue, you really aren't worth talking to -- for a competent seller. If you're looking to get a site on the cheap, you're very likely to end up with a cheap site.

This are my views, as a site buyer. I haven't done a lot of site selling. I'm building an empire.
