Hi all, I am web designer who from time to time does seo on client site and does get my client site 1st page on there chosen keyword. So i do have a standard amount of knowledge. My problem is that google has rip my site apart this week by with lowering my page rank and on some page bringing down from 3 to zero, and the only differance from the last pr is now my code is alot cleaner and i had more backlinks! I know i need more links going to my site, before last week i had around 80 relivant backlinks but now it is only showing a most 15 and also more well written blogs. I think you need to optimize your site for UK specific search engines targeting UK specific keywords.
Very few keywords in title tag. not proper utilization of description and keywords meta tag. Do work on keyword research, select then put in in your meta tags and website page with a limited content.
Your incoming links all look low quality. When you also look at the fact you've openly been gaming the linking system, its no real surprise that there has been a fall in PR. Please dont take offense to this, but this thread sums up the mess that the seo business is in. You're offering seo services on your site and asking for money for it, but you clearly have no idea what you are doing. Also, I'd kill the music from your site. Its absolutely awful, but even if it was good music or a real song it still shouldnt auto play. If you absolutely must have music on your site, at least have the ability to switch it off. I was forced to pause Itunes while I looked at your site as it was playing over the top of my own music. To review a site posted on the forum I'll go to that trouble, but if I'm looking for something for myself (like an average surfer), I cant think of any single thing that'll make my click the back button faster than music.
Thanks for your reply on the seo but i was looking for sound advice or constructive criticism. I understand my backlinks are not that great , but i do have some understanding of what i am doing. Also i do not have a problem with gaining work from my site and if i wanted help with the design of my site i would ask for it. Basically you have no idea about seo otherwise you would have had something to say which would have made sense.
The part about the music was constructive criticism (albeit not about seo). But its all part of the bigger picture. You could have been ranking number 1 by using seo, but you'd have lost me as a visitor as soon as I'm forced to listen to music. Pointing out that your backlinks are low quality is constructive criticism. To retaliate and say I know nothing about SEO is just childish. Why would I bother going into depth analysing your site when you're selling commercial seo services? If you are good enough to sell that service, then you're certainly good enough to work on your own site. Heres some quick pieces of advice for free: Remove all the flash from your site, replace it with static images with ALT tags Remove this tag: <h1>We encourage new internet based startup businesses.</h1> Code (markup): You've already got an h1 tag with your keywords in it. Using another is not good design practise and its diluting the value of the proper h1 tag. Remove this image since your site does not validate. (Line 62, Column 112: there is no attribute "ALIGN")
flash had to be use due to look of site i do no that flash is no good for seo, i will sort the validation out that has come from a flash text link inserted into the site. The reason for duplicate h1 tag is ive seen in source sode for web designers who rank 1 for web design you mutiple h1 tags. This has only been a recent change to my site. Maybe a did not explain myself properly. For example my portfolio page was pr2 nothing has been done to this page but on recent update it has gone to zero. Agree with vic_mackey. you are selling seo services but still have no ideas what seo is. Then ask for totally sound free seo advice here but then selling it to others. I guess that how we should all make money online.

By the way redspace if your links are your sites why are you selling web site building and seo i cant see why? I looking for some sort of advice from people who can back up what they do. I run a successfull business and have not got the time to deal with advance seo. And also i was looking to pass certain work for someone who had some good ideas and could show they had a above average seo skills.
