When you're almost on page one but not quite

For a couple of my keywords I'm 13th or 14th. My pages are optimized and i have some decent backlinks but wanna be on page 1. What should I really be thinking of doing at this stage? The keys are midly competitive. Is it about patience, editing the title tag?

Patience and more links from related resources is a good start. Keep building links to your optimized pages. Check out the competition. Where are they getting links from? Keep adding content and tweaking your site and eventually you will get there.

 

I second the motion that alpha says. If your on page optimization is solid, then it's time to keep adding more 'quality' backlinks. Also, continuing to add more content is good. Old content can lose google brownie points. The comment about patience is true regarding google giving more weight to older sites. So just waiting might sometimes make the difference. But I wouldn't depend on it. Linking to relevent internal pages can also help the index page rise in SERPs.

 

Yep...quality links alone would probably be enough to push you up to the first page. Sometimes it is on-page factors that holds a site back.

I assume you are talking about your football website. One seo issue you have it that you are targeting the phrase 'live footy' but you use the word 'football' instead of 'footy' in all your headers. That website only has 166 backlinks according to Yahoo. That is quite low and is probably the main problem.

So work at getting links and you should get to page 1.

 

Obviously your going in the right direction. My advice for you would be to keep doing what your doing. Just really focus on getting quality backlinks over loads of none relevant backlinks. Try contacting the webmasters of the sites above you and link exchange with them.

Working regularly on SEO will improve the ranking, u r in 13 means not much difficult to reach in top bcz u r in right way. make qulaity BL and keep updating at least twice in a month

Keep making some potential backlinks targeted to your keywords....your site will gradually move up within some time..
