http://realtytocell.com/index.html I have been writing and rewriting my copy on this website for about 3 month now because I always feel like I can always say it a little better. when is good enough, good enough? I always feel like when I finish that is good enough, but when I sit back and read it and disect it I want to make it better. Is this normal or am I looking for perfection when it is no where to be found.

It only implies you are not self congratulatory, but absolutely normal. But when you are unable to tip your good enough copy as really good enough one, ask another writer to review it and give his/er honest opinion. This especially holds good when you are hard pressed with time and when you are a newbie in the field writing (I do it this way :p)!

The value a site such as that one is that it should be very clear when your copy is "good enough."

Are you getting conversions? Do you get more conversions with each revamp?

If your site is converting well, the copy is working well. If you're not seeing conversions, your copy can probably stand to be tweaked. If you change it and your conversion rate drops, change it back. Your sales are a barometer of your text and marketing, but usually text assuming your marketing stays consistent.

Rebecca is correct. Conversions help measure the effectiveness of your copy.

If you want a more concrete approach, try A/B'ing or comparing two versions of your copy as it can tell you exactly which of the two versions work. The one that gets you more conversions is of course the more effective one.

I think Google Analytics lets you do this. It's free and they have a tutorial to let you do this.

    I hope that helps. :)

That's a great suggestion about using Google Analytics to test the effectiveness of two pieces of writing, Thanks

if you say you've learned it all, you're not learning enough. being one's own worst critic does a lot in the self-help department.
