when you update Wordpress...

Here are the instructions for updating Wordpress:

my question is - do any of you actually delete all of your files first, or do you simply overwrite them? I've been overwriting mine for at least a year...is that a bad thing?

 

You should probably backup your files before you try any overwriting.

 

Whatever you delete, overwrite, just don't forget NOT to delete the wp content folder. Overwriting or deleting first really doesn't make a difference.

It would be tough to delete my files all at once, since I have a lot of folders that were manually created (originals, images, site-images, etc etc)...if I deleted them all, I'd probably wipe one of these out by mistake.

better to delete the files and then upload the new ones. I always do that and from the start, ensure that any changes to the blog are strictly contained in the wp-content folder.
