how long did it take before you got 100 unique visitors a day? I don't mean 100 people one day and than 35 the next 4 days. I mean 100 people on average per day. What do you feel was the key to your website building traffic? Was it more from people spreading the word on a good content site or did you have some good avertising method. I feel my site has great content but I feel like I'm stuck in the mud. So far I'm doing the msg board signatures, myspace, and directories advertising and all the search engines have picked up my site. That being said I still only have like 30 hits per average a day and this month I've only recieved 3 hits from search engine. Have any suggestions?
That really depends on the type of site and the 'tools' that you have in order to make traffic. For example if you believe that your site can have return visitors, paying for some cpc traffic would be very good for your site. If you have other sites send some traffic from there. And search for incoming links, because this will make search engines send you traffic (getting indexed is not much) Hope my post helps you
cpc is cost per click ads (eg. google adwords, YPN, etc) Incoming links are links that point to your site (I mean search for other webmasters to link to your site)
10 months to 100 a day 10 more to 300 a day 10 more to 600 a day 10 more to 1000 a day 10 more to 2000 a day 20 more to 4000 a day
is that with just one website, or one website when you own plenty more? My first was probably slower than that to get 100 / day, but it gets a lot easier when you can send traffic from your own sites. I've started a few new sites recently - it will be interesting to see if I can get 100 in 10 months or less. I suppose if your niche is really niche 4000/day may never be achievable.
I didn't see article submissions in the list of marketing activities you're doing. Write a few good articles in your niche and submit them to the top article directories (do a search on here - there's a few lists posted). You'll get a decent traffic spike right after you submit, but then you'll also pick up some steady traffic if other webmasters reprint your article. Just make sure you're writing good articles and not just the same stale info that's already out there.
It took me about a month actually :l I was on a huge free advertising method that I did tho, posted at a ton of boards, etc. Pretty happy how it turned out.
I have got maximum of 150 visitor one day for my site and my site is 6 days old and it is getting around 50 visitors per day and my site is basically a link directory and I am trying hard to get more traffic can any one out there who can suggest me to get more traffic
What you really need is more links to your sites so that the search engines think more highly of them. Check out GainingPageRank.com
Nowadays I've more than 600 visitors per day (on my main website) and has been increasing lately. Things that I think are good to improve the number of visitors: - good domain name; - link exchange with other websites with the same or similar subject; - good content; - many updates; - newsletter and a RSS feed. Other things I've done to improve the number of visitors: - added link to the external links of wikipedia...only in fully related articles; - added a forum to the website; - added polls; - made dynamic content to present differente contents everyday: "Photo of the Day", for instance; - submited to Directories; - submited a sitemap (Google Sitemaps). Some of the topics are very good to increase the returning users. Currently, I have almost 19% of returning users. There're a lot of ways to do improve your website statistics...just search on gooogle....and have a littler of imagination. Regards, JRJR
On one of my first proper sites I had 500-1000 rather steady within days because of a good free advertising method. My advertising method was totally relevant to my site though, and was the reason why I made the site. Nowadays I don't advertise in the same way (takes too long) but it still picks up about 500/day which is with a year without advertising but I only visit it every few weeks. The good advertising led to a lot of visitors which made me pretty popular and gave me backlinks/quality content (it's a forum) which then gave me decent SERPs which then gives a better traffic influx.
another good idea is to find similar site's to yours and offer front page for front page link exchanges. This way you can share each other's traffic coming to the site. Of course, if one site has a PR5 and gets 100/visitors per day, and yours is a PR2 and gets 10..they probably will not exchange. So don't get greedy. try to find some good site's with a PR close to yours, check their alexa ratings, and send them a nice email with your purposal. this is a great way to bring in some extra free traffic
actually it took us 3 months to do it with general seo techniques, guys stop wasting time ppc is definately the best option at least the traffic comming through ppc is of better quality.
If you have a limited budget and want to get more visitors try banner exchange.. and get a lot of good links Robert
Back in the day... generating website traffic was as simple as finding several free indexes which pertained to your topic/business, and posting your offerings. The right indexes not only drove traffic, but qualified and motivated traffic. While this type of traffic does still exist, those indexes are either saturated with similar offers, have sold out to larger commercial firms which slant the indexes towards their own or their advertiser offerings, or have started their own pay-for-listing campaigns. Google (and the like) gave many index owners new models on how to tap into the revenue stream of their traffic, and in so doing compromised the quality and quantity of the traffic they once directed (IMHO). These days, content is king. Yes, of course, I say this knowing that content may be co-king with the properly configured and search engine optimized website, but content is one of the largest driving forces to traffic these days. If you can't come up with your own content, there are companies that will do it for you, for a fee. Sadly, I am not (yet) personally familiar with any of these websites, however I'm sure that several posters can provide a long list for you. ResidualGuy
