When you create an eBook what format do you use? Do you prefer to create a PDF version or do you do an EXE ebook. Would you be happy to download an EXE version ebook.
I've never seen an eBook as an application. Also, it depends on the niche your eBook is in. I have several eBooks on both Amazon KDP and Smashwords, so the format varies.
Usually pdf is only used as some antivirus detext exe as a virus. pdf is easier to read, we can adjust it as we need.
If you have an eBook you shouldn't just focus on one medium - it limits your potential customers. You should try to get it out there in every format possible.
Dude, are you crazy? You can open a pdf file on any operating system. And how exactly do you plan on doing an eBook as a .exe file lol? Sure, people could add microsoft word and so on, but it would be a waste of time since a PDF file works for everyone.
If you read my first post I said I've never seen an eBook as an application, and I would not recommend it. I know you can open a pdf on any operating system, but not everyone is looking to buy a book to read in .pdf format. Think Kindle, Nook, etc.. So yes, it DOES limit your potential customers. The more exposure you have across multiple platforms the greater your chances of success. So no, I'm not crazy. I'm right.
Well a PDF has exposure on all platforms. Sure it's great to have alternatives, but they should not be needed. And you never said that you wouldn't recommend having it in a .exe format in your first post, that's why I reacted.
Right now . . . my concern is not for Kindle and such. I am more interested and concerned about the production of eBooks using a compiler, which will produce an EXE file ebook as the end result. So much time seems to be given to PDF ebooks which can seemingly be used of both systems, Mac and PC. What I want to determine is what is the most popular, and most acceptable system used in the information publishing and marketing business.
The most popular format for an eBook is .PDF. No, I would not be happy to download an EXE version of a book as there is no point.
Are you saying there is no point in creating an EXE file ebook with a compiler. I was led to beleive this was the way to go . . . but it seems I misunderstood.
Do you even know how to create a .exe program? Because it sounds like you have no clue of what you're talking about.
The .exe format was popular years ago but didn't work on MACs. And today people are leary of opening a .exe file because of the viruses going around. If you're creating your content on Word save the word file and create a PDF out of it. My version of Word allows me to save as PDF maybe yours does too.
