When would you NOT use Google?

Google is obviously a great search engine, and it's got a lot of free and useful tools. But as great as it is, there are times when you have to resort to other search engines and tools as well to maximise the results.

Just in terms of search, I've always been going to google first for anything, but sometimes when I can't get the results I expected I also turn to yahoo, msn and other search engines.

Is there any particular situation when you would NOT use google and resort to other tools?

 

In the past, I used to go for Yahoo and then MSN in hope of getting the required result, but now, I always get results from Google, I only use Yahoo and MSN for one or two keyword searches just to check my site's ranking.

 

my life can not leave google........

 

I use Dogpile if I can't find via Google.

 

Google is the first site that I thought to search. It is a very useful

 

I only use yahoo over google to check backlinks!

 

I don't use google to search when I can't connect to internet. It is that simple

 

When I want to search for something, it is always Google.

If Google cannot find something, you can be rest assured that Yahoo and MSN will fail at it too.

 

seem like many people use Google. because Google convenient, it does not have many ads as Yahoo

 

first go to google, if there is no result that i want then go to yahoo.

 

i use always google for search (I did 6852 search this year!)
For images I use LiveSearch, because it displays more in one page + it's AJAX
Google Image really need to change

 

Have anyone tried cuil? the new search engine?

 

i was using cuil for 4 days and its nothing when compared to google....it wont give you more than 30 search results for anything..

 

I only use yahoo and msn over google to check backlinks and index!

 

very simple i will not use google if i wnat to search for somethign othe rthan webpages.

for ex if i want to search for music i would NOT use google
if i want to search for movies i would NOT search google
if i want to search for images i would NOT search from google.


google is a WEBPAGE search engine .. internet is so so much more than that.. you cant' even possibly imagine...

 

Hands down google search is the best for search...period (though i have my personal issues with the way they handle webmasters sites and communications but thats another topic)

The only time ive run into a dilemma is when i search for "breaking news" 1-3 hours time which usually travels faster threw the social sites like twitter rather then waiting for google to send it up threw the results.

Yahoo's finance section is superior to that of Google's. I use yahoo finance all the time. In regards to search engines and sites; I'll use Yahoo if I don't want to get my site indexed

 

There are individual advantages, I do not like Yahoo because it has more ads than I like Google.

 

Google always gives more accurate and quality results. I'll only use yahoo when I would like to check if my site is ranked well in yahoo.

 

I think if you want to check the backlinks, you could use yahoo,not google.
