To be honest I think YPN does pay for international clicks at this time. We used Geo IP DB and served up other ads and our payout went way down. We went back to YPN ads for all visitors and the payouts went back up. Mark
You better watch yourself then. My account was terminated for serving ads to international users. It seems to be ok to make some money off of international clicks, but if you make "too much", they'll drop you. I'm still fighting with them on it... they're not interested in reinstating my account if I use a Geo IP DB to do what you did, and I'm honestly thinking that I'll never see any of the money I earned in November and December.
I got kicked also but they said I could rejoin when they are ready for international sites. Should I call YPN and ask about my earnings?
Dang, is this for real? I am worried to see publishers getting kicked because of international traffic. I have one site serving half u.s visitors and half foreigners. Should i stop that site serving ypn? But come one yahoo, i can't control where they come from.
Yep, it's real. My site has similar traffic numbers and I got kicked out. Still haven't gotten paid for November either, because of the fact that I got kicked out. I'd call YPN and ask about your site -- they seem to evaluate things on a site by site basis. If you get the rep to tell you that your site's fine, I'd get their name as well, so that if they come back later and kick you out, you can say "So and so told me it was ok on such and such date."
This is just sad. There should be no reason for them to do this to websites because they receive International traffic. Most sites do and as such that is an unfair way of treating members. Sometimes I wonder what these companies are thinking. Kevin
Just post a message on your website and inform your international users to ONLY click your ads when they are in the USA.
How is a rep supposed to know what your International traffic figures are? If your site is accepted, it obviously meets all the other requirements. I was told the International traffic figure needs to be significant for Yahoo to have problems with it. I would write to yahoo and give them the percentages for your site and then if they state there isn't going to be a problem you have something to go back to them with. My International traffic figure are low, but others are running a script that will show an alternative ad to International visitors based on their IP.
They clearly have that information, since they kicked me (and others) out for serving ads to international users. Other people have called and been told that they did not have to filter international traffic, because they weren't receiving a substantial amount of it.
Of course they have that information once ads start being served, but they don't have any way of knowing when they initially accept a site for the program. Anyone can check their stats and know where there traffic is coming from - I did, and they said the percentage wasn't a problem. Before you start running ads on a site, check the stats and then ask Yahoo if that is going to be a problem.
I have a good amount of international traffic that I'm filtering out right now, so I'm looking forward to ypn opening up internationally too. In the mean time, though, I'm trying to find some ads to put in place of the yahoo ones for international visitors. What is everyone else putting up in place of ypn for users outside the US?
I think a lot of people are showing Google ads, which works well because a lot of the sizes match and you can keep the same color scheme.
Definitely Adsense. The combination of the two, in my case, is making an absolute killing for me. I had no clue Adsense paid so well for international traffic. But hopefully YPN follows suit soon because I'll just use 100% YPN.
Does anyone use anything other than adsense for international traffic? I'm kind of curious to see what else is out there (particularly for Hong Kong traffic), but my own searches haven't turned up much.
