Hopefully, PR will just fade off into the sunset and never return. Course, I've been wishing DMOZ would do the same thing, but that hasn't happeded..."yet!"
I agree to this. The problems they have don't make sense unless they are struggling to keep up with the growing data and demand for speed. I also think that they might have problems to use their algo since it was not made for this amount of data. I know that many think of Google as a God but it's driven by humans humans...and humans are limited.
Although I voted "NEVER" but I believe it is going to come back some day. If google had plans to fade this out they would not included it in the new release of toolbar.
I voted "Never" .. I guess google will completely trash the Toolbar PR and will release something new. Cheers!
I think PR will not return into the google toolbar. If it was an technical error they would have fixed it immediately. Time for a change.. I've also seen that the regular search results are now with a link-out script, this is only in the Netherlands so far.. http://www.google.nl/
I think this is a great move by google to get rid of pagerank. Can you guys see this? Here are a couple of reasons: 1. They could not handle page rank calculations (remember delays in updates?). Web is just too dynamic to promote any rank (be it google's rank) for each page on the net. So why using lots of resources on calculating page rank, while more power and resources would be need as web grows, when they can concentrate only on results quality which is only partially related to what used to be page rank? 2. They finally woke up and realized that links only are worthless for relevant rankings and getting worthles even more with the SEO engineering that can afford to grow as many links. They are moving now more towards semantical ranking. I say a movie about Google where a guy from Google was telling that they always focus on future, on new technologies. So, while competition is trying to get them from behind using same approach they do, they are already one step forward. One of these steps this guy was talking about, was improvements in results relevance using new tehcnologies.
Well it looks like 32% of you were dead wrong. It is back! Mine just reappeared in the last 10 minutes although others had reported it back earlier than this. It looks like the May 31 voters were the winners. Congratualtions to all those who didn't panic.
What do you mean? It will be back tomorrow. In fact in much of the world it was already May31 when it returned. I'm sure the spirit of the May31 vote was that it was a holiday weekend issue and to this degree those voters where correct. But I can start another poll if you like on which voters should be considered correct.
It's may 31st here and PR is back, so since the world revolves around me I'm awarding it to anyone who guessed the 31st.
The funny thing is that people are still voting. It's like betting on the horses after the race is over.
Most of them i guess have no concern with the PR,they just want to vote like a newly eligible voter does!!!!(I'm 18 n i will VOTE this year yahhooo!!!)
