Here is my website: http://www.FreebieShark.com I have been building backlinks under the anchor text "Jason" (my name). I just recently learned that I should use an anchor text relating to my website, so I started using the anchor text "Free Samples". My website has been up since September, and it's still not ranked under the keywords 'free samples' and 'freebies'. I have used tools that helped me determine I am not ranked on Google under those keywords. I am not expecting to be ranked on the first page in a search, but I would like to see my website listed in Google somewhere under these keywords. So my question is, when and how exactly can I get my site ranked on these keywords? Will my anchor text for my backlinks help? Any advice would be awesome, Thank you!
They are both very difficult keywords to go for. You may get better results if you diversify or localise your keywords, or use social marketing.
I know they are very difficult keywords, but I am wondering why I am not even ranked even in the top 200? The websites on the 20th page on google are not even relevant!
Yes the anchor text helps, only if the sites you're posting on is dofollow, of course. I haven't made an analysis of your site, but one advice is to focus more on the on-page SEO first, this way, your links with the related anchor text will have more value. Another thing to think off, sometimes it takes Google a long time to give you the rank you deserve. Also have in mind that your domain name does not contain your keywords, therefore it's going to be harder for you. If I were you, I would focus on some deeper keywords, for example, "free DVD samples" (just example).
If you ranking in bing and yahoo but nowhere in google then you're in the sandbox. Don't worry you'll come out of it. Keep building backlinks so that when you do, you'll come out strong.
Forget that keyword. You'll rank for it in YEARS if you try hard every day - I don't have that kind of patience, I'm sure you don't either. And when you do get ranked, you'll have a bunch of traffic wanting freebies. Move on...
Very competitive keyword. As the other members say that keyword is very competitive and for sure you will need to wait for a very long time for your website. Try to create a competitive long tail keywords like "free sample items" and etc.
It is an extreme competitive keyword and generic in nature, It can take up to years to find yourself in top positions for it.
Mate if this is very competitive word it will be very difficult to enter even in first 1000. You will need a lot of quality back links (and with that I mean thousands). It may take years to drasticly improve your rankings. I suggest you to take some other keywords that are less competitive and build this links. It won't hurt you, and you will easier improve your rankings...
i don't think that your site will ever get top 10 rank with free samples. One page seo sucks. Off page may be worst. For better seo , there is lot of things to be consider. and your site is just covering only one factor. your site is fast
When you say you have been using your name as anchor text, I presume that's because your blog commenting right? So now you have changed your name to "Free Samples". lol, it will be obvious to everyone that the only reason your commenting is to leave a link to your site. but anyway. Yes anchor text can help, but as your sites only a couple of months old, you won't see any benefit for a long time yet (so long as your not penalized for anything in the mean time). To rank well for competitive terms, you need to gain trust, that takes time. In the meantime, update regularly, make sure your code is good, your onpage SEO is optimized and don't do anything that may jeopardize your sites trust. When I view the source code of one of your posts, I see two title tags. Why? <title>Free 2010 Chicago White Sox Kids Club Kit | FreebieShark.com </title> <title>FreebieShark.com | Free Samples - Daily Freebies | Free Stuff Updated Daily!</title> Code (markup): A few things to keep in mind that can help you rank. Speed: Hope that helps. Cheers James PS:, try not to use tinypic to host your images, it slows your site down and makes it look sort of amateur like.
In your case, I'd rather go with less comptetive keywords, for example some niches related to categories on that website - and get as much backlinks for it as possible.
