When will AdSense start kicking off (earning money)?

    Hi everyone.

I'm new here and new to AdSense.
I just read about AdSense somewhere and got really excited about it since I used to make some websites.
I built a website a week ago, got approved by AdSense, and added them into my website.

    here is my website: http://vgheaven.ifastnet.com

I sent my website to all of my friends, all the major search engines, and traded links with some sites that have the similar contents.

I would like to know usually how long does it take for a new website to start earning money with AdSense?

    thank you.

Welcome to DP. Your earnings depend entirely on your efforts. The more you push and promote a site, the higher your chances of better income. Update, evaluate, work hard and you will surely see positive results. Don't just think that online marketing is a get rich quick scheme, you need to work hard and build a site or sites that keep visitors coming back. Create retention, build build build, and don't get frustrated if it takes you a few months to receive your first check.

It all depends on traffic really, that is the number one goal here.

There's no set time to when your going to start earning x amount, just keep trying to build your site up. Try to get high rankings in the search engines for your specific keywords.

Once you've got some good traffic like 1000+ hits day, then its time to optimise your ads to get the best out of them.

Don't get me wrong, you can still make money with adsense with less than 1000 hits a day, but we're probably not talking $xx, all depends on your topic I guess.

"takes you a few months to receive your first check." and "1000+" traffic.

    thanks guys.
now I get a sense of what I need to accomplish and perhaps need to wait for a few months.
those numbers help a lot =)

Geez, I hope you didn't tell them all about your Adsense and how they can "help you out". That's a real big noob mistake. I wouldn't tell your friends the URL of your site at all, especially if they know what those Adsense ads are. Tell me you didn't already tell them about Adsense...

nope nope. I did my homework =)

I just e-mailed them to announce that I got a new site opened.
two of my friends know about it but I didn't ask them to click the ads for me though.

will AdSense ban people very quickly if someone clicked for me?

Yeah i'd watch out for that - If your serious about your website, be certain you do not ask for any 'assistance' or friendly clicks.

See, that's always the problem. Your friends and family will always want to "help you out" on their own volition. They'll click once or twice today, a couple more tomorrow, some more the next day, etc, and they won't even tell you about it unless it comes up in conversation out of the blue. Over time, the same IP will keep showing up in Adsense's reporting stats, and they will form a pattern and bam -- you get an email about "invalid clicks" as the reason why you were banned. It happens all the time, and it's almost always unintentional. You better hope the two that knows about your Adsense ads knows better than to click to "help you out".
