Huh? Maybe it's early but I'm missing your point...sorry. :0 He's a paleontologist (I agree, he's probably a dork)....hardly a wild guess. What are your qualifications? (http://www.religioustolerance.org/oldearth2.htm) You're clearly in a group of your own, Tom.
One funny thing I realize is that there are sooooo many correction every year. Plus - minus 30, 100, 300 million years... And all the info appears so damned serious. Honestly I'm having a hard time to memorize what I did a week ago and I'm not able to recall every minute detail. But scientists can ... one wonders ... millions and billions of years. One little mistake in research creates a chain-reaction of mistakes and miscalculation overturning itself several times a year. I better stick with Jesus and the scriptures, because I'm reborn in spirit and I'm part-taking in his live and vice versa (past and future) and has he said as the creator of creation and the universe: we will be led into all understanding.
The question is do we believe in evolution! if yes then do we believe in the existence of ADAM AND EVE... n if thatz true then is evolution possible!
Okay, I am a firm believer in the scientific theory that the universe is 13.9 Billion year old, or whatever that exact number is, but I also believe in the books of genesis. I think the times given are symbolic though, the first day, first billion years, 2nd day, 2nd billion years, or whatever. If you interpret genesis symbollically, it makes sense.
That's a good point. I believe that 50 years ago scientists were convinced the earth was 500,000 years old, and 100 years ago they were convinced it was 50,000 years old.
Hear about the latest scientific creation theory? The universe is infinite, meaning we can guess that big bangs time frame, but it's possible the latest big bang ( said latest) is a result of the previous universe collapsing on itself. So how old are we, if this is a repeat, with no evidence of the age of the previous universes? tom <= Tossing wrenches
Good call Crazy Rob, although I might not agree on the 6k idea, but I'm guessing hundreds of years ago, the scholars came to the same conclusion we( or you have) pick a freaking number and lets get on with real life issues.
One of my tenants pointed me to this site yesterday: http://www.answersingenesis.org/video/ondemand Quite interesting stuff. The videos are free btw.
I believe in Evolution, but not only evolution. Darwin said that his theory doesn't apply for the humans, and the evolution took million of years, and we're here with only 8.000 years of some advanced evolution.. I think that we got some help in our beeginins..or that the humanity is much older than what we think.
If you believe in God and that he is all powerful, why can't you believe that he created the chicken before the egg and he started the universe as though it appeared to look old? He could have created it already in motion and in a mature looking state. And, ever since the Garden of Eden and the Fall of man it has degraded.
