I am just wondering: If you have a brand new blog, and you have installed it and you are eager to start writing... but you are waiting for your designer to finish with your customized theme. Should you wait until everything is finished before you start blogging and promoting the blog? Or should you just start, even though you are using the "default" wordpress template? What do you think? - I am just about to start a new blog, and I am not sure what to do Thanks Jens
Day 1 Minute 1, you can get started instantly to get your blog indexed and then work on developing it.
I started mine instantly and I got good visitors in 2 days after launching and writing so yeah start earlier so you can get indexed earlier. Content most of the time wins over the look of the site. you could also go to a template site and choose one randomly for now.
Thanks for all your answers. I have my first post ready, I think I will post it later today. The designer said he will be finished with my template sometime next week, but I can't wait Jens
You may want to wait to promote it, since you only get to make a first impression once. However, there is no harm in getting started writing right now. The earlier your content starts getting crawled by the search engines the better. But in terms of direct promotion, social media, or paid advertisements; you're best doing a large surge when you're ready.
I personally would wait, You want your site upon first site to strike a chord, so they immediately bookmark and become engrossed in your high quality site. You could write some content but I wouldn't really promote it at all until the sites image is where you want it to be, I think by you posting this thread you've answered your own question.
I am still waiting, that's because I didn't have time to write my first post yesterday (it was almost done). I guess I could wait a few more days to see if the design will be finished during the week. And I agree, the first impression of a blog is very important (at least it is to me). If the design sucks, I might not even read the post... even if the title is interesting. But I am using the default template from wordpress, so I guess it doesn't suck, it's just thousands of other blogs using it Thanks Jens
