When to sign up?

When should you try to sign up for an Adsense account? In general, how much content should I have on my site/blog and how old should my site be before trying to sign up with Adsense? Or does it not matter? Any other tips on getting a site ready for Adsense?

The age of the site will vary where you are based in the World e.g. for India you need a site at least six months old, but this restriction does not apply to most of the rest of the World. Getting a site ready is not too hard work and adsense do provide you with all of the guidance you need on their website (This is normally the bit most people ignore or skip and then wonder why the get rejected.)
You need a privacy policy as it's mandatory for all adsense sites and has been for over two years, adding an about us and a contact us page is also a very good idea. However there are many more points to address on the adsense website - read them don't just apply and hope for the best. Getting it right first time is not easy.
In relation to the content for a blog I would say 20 - 30 high quality ORIGINAL content posts would be enough, although there is no hard and fast rule, I've seen people get accepted with 5 and get rejected with over 50. The main thing to do is make sure your site complies with their policies.
    Hope this helps

Agreed. Also you need to have some traffic on your website before applying for adsense.

I had approximately 30-32 articles when I decided to sign in AdSense, the traffic flow wasn't really high though.

You must have atleast 15 unique Articles of 500 words each. A TLD is required too. I haven't seen any webmaster disapproved by Google due to Site Age. You must have a good Traffic because adsense is good for nothing without traffic.

The age of site doesn't matter but sometimes it interferes. But you should have enough content on your website/blog before applying for AdSense. Generally, if your blog has 30+ posts, you can apply for AdSense and your account gets approved.

Decent amount of traffic and some good, unique content.

Some people like to implement adsense and other forms of monetization well after they start their website. I prefer to have some form of monetization as soon as possible so that readers realize that I am trying to make money off the site, instead of suddenly implementing it one day and annoying my 500+ readers, or whatever.

    My problem is that
do they have a right to complain when they are getting great advice for free?

Well it's not really the complaining I'm worried about, it's more the loss of readers. I guess it's personal preference, I don't think it's a 'big' thing, if you will.

You need to have quality content to get approved with adsense. They have become quite strict over the years...
