Im a newbie on SEO. I would like to know when is the right time to submit to Google? If I already submit it yesterday then I made changes on my META Tags. Do I have to resubmit?

    Thanks in advance.

no, just get links to the site from other sites in google and google will check in on your site every day to see what changes you have made.

As Dominic says you do not need to submit to Google if you have a link from a site that is in Google in fact the same applies across all important SEs

Once it is in the Google index, the Googlebot will return and analyse your site periodically, and note any changes you have made.

Continually resubmitting to Google will not affect how often the Googlebot returns to your site.

Hi Melfan, as has already been said, Google does not need submitting to as it is a spider driven Search engine, not a directory. Once your in the Index then the spider will come back when it is ready (provided you don't have any of those daft revisit after xxx days in your metas, as this will STOP the robots from coming back until that time is up.

One thing though Google all but ignores the Metas anyhow, so changing them is not going to help in Google. Yahoo! , MSN yes, but Google, No!

    a litle correction

G does at present ignores keyword. Description I'm not to sure about as some of my descriptions show up on G, but may well be equivalent of snipets.

Depending if one includes Title as a meta, than yes G reads and values title beyond what is shown on SERPS results.
IMHO title should be sharp and short (7 words) but there are situations where a very long title is not completely shown by G but taken into conciderations.
It also needs to be noted that Y and M and some other SE's are inclined to show slightly longer titles than G.

According to Y keyword maybe used to clarify a pages content in regards to geographics and related searches.

There are various threads about, from our experience where sites get visited daily Y shows changes within 48h - 72h, M is sometimes faster, G presently takes longest on average of 3-7 days.

    M
PS As said submissions to the big guns is not required BUT if you submit to directories take your time and give it your best shot as these entries once active are notoriously hard to change.

Never-Never-Never resubmit to Google. It's bad for health and explained by Google why!

Sorry but that is scaremongering - it does no harm neither does it help that's all.

    read G's own post :

We add thousands of new sites to our index each time we crawl the Web, but if you like, you may submit your URL as well. Submission is not necessary and does not guarantee inclusion in our index. Given the large number of sites submitting URLs, it's likely your pages will be found in an automatic crawl before they make it into our index through the URL submission form. We DO NOT add all submitted URLs to our index, and cannot predict when or if they will appear.
Please visit our "Add URL" page to input your URLs. You can submit your site as often as you like, but multiple submissions will not improve the likelihood of your site being added or accelerate the process. We do not penalize sites for 'over-submitting'. If you choose to submit your site, only the top-level domain is necessary, as the spiders will follow your internal links to all the rest of the pages.
The best way to ensure Google finds your site is for your page to be linked from lots of pages on other sites. Google's robots jump from page to page on the Web via hyperlinks, so the more sites that link to you, the more likely it is that we'll find you quickly.

Yikes, could you imagine if G suspended sites for excess site submissions.... it would be a quick way for people to get rid of their competitors sites from G... just keep submitting their competitors URL!

submit as many times as you like, it won't do anything.

you NEED incoming links from pages currently in the index. if you have those, you don't need to submit. if you don't have them, submitting won't do a thing.

Disgust is absolutely correct except the first line should be "why would anyone in their right mind waste their time submitting to Google, ever, under any circumstance?"

To amplify the second sentence a little further Google will not maintain an URL in it's index that does not have at least one inbound link. If the site has at least one inbound link Google will find it and crawl it, so there is no reason to submit the site.

If the IBL is from a page with decent PR, 5 or 6, Google will probably find and crawl the site within 48 to 72 hours. Their turn around time on submission isn't that good. So never, never waste your time submitting.
