I've been developing a gallery/image hosting service, on the side of my daytime job, for about a year now and wondering if theres any point in starting advertising with my current traffic. At the moment the gallery pages, where ads would show up, get under 1000 uniques and about 7000-8000 page loads daily. Is there any point in showing ads with this kind of low traffic? Any suggestion on what would work best and what can I expect, if anything, CPM or PPC ? Thanks!
You won't get the reputable advertiser networks to allow an image hosting site to place their ads on them, since they're widely known for being targets for content thieves. So you'll probably have to settle for some second-grade ad networks like AdBrite, who are known to turn a blind eye on such things. Meaning, even if the 1K/day would click anything, you'd still get less than you would via a better ad network. At this point, that would amount to close to nothing...
A lot of people say when you have a Substantial amount of traffic per day, week. With me, I start when my website gets over 20+ per day.
Most sites that use adSense don't have the rights to all the images they use throughout their site. Plenty of people just copy images from getty or somewhere else.
