Abu Hurayra(R.A.) narrated ... that the Messenger of Allah (PAPBUH)=(peace and prayer be upon him) said :" The day of the hour will not come until the sun rises from the west, if it rises and the people saw it they will all believe, when a time where nothing will be accepted anymore of believe the truth" [Abu Bukhari,Muslim] I believe this is the truth that will surely happen, what about you guys (jews or christians ones), do you believe that the sun will rise from the west?
If superman does that trick where he makes teh world spin backwards, then yeah, I can see it happening.
Well, as an atheist I would have to say...ah...no. Short of an actual miracle (and there has been no good evidence for any true miracles), the only way the sun would rise from the west is if the Earth's rotation was reversed. I imagine it would take something incredibly catastrophic for this to happen in the first place, so the probability of anyone being left alive to see the sun rise from the west is slim to none in such a circumstance. Also, the earth is a sphere (imagine that), and one side is always facing the sun (daylight). So...where would the sun first rise from the west?
Perhaps many million years from now the poles will invert and that will be the case, but I don't think your fairy tales book was predicting that.
I am just curious about what stox would post on this one . For me I feel if God wants to show up in his time, anything is possible within his powers, sun rises from the west will just be nothing for Him. Just worried that it will turn into a religion bashing thread again. Lets discuss in the spirit of the thread. It is great to have diversity in the answers and opinions, just that do respect each other and do not go personal.
Just take it from a different perspective; the sun is an entity which glows very bright and is very dangerous so are nuclear boms which come from the same principle on which the sun works the deuterium - helium cycle and imit if only for a short moment a similar light and lethality These days of this age the coming of a sun in the west ( the U.S and americas) is not all that impossible to perceive, just think of a nuclear war between (middle)east and west I think this is silently in the mids of many regardless of who will win this pyrrhus victory few will be able to celebrate it and possibly that will be the end of "our" days. as for the second clause, it is more common than not to express scepticism these days about anything religious or even scientific than not without even having the ability to understand or understanding fully what we are sceptic about, therefore one can say that in contrast to earlier times there is truth to these words of Abu Hurayra. This is just an assumption which i think has at least some truth to it you must agree.
Good prophecies have a way of being true by default. Revelation comes to mind in places. When things like the earth spinning backwards, fire and sulfer raining from the sky, the seas washing over the earth, epic battles between superhuman beings, or just everyone rising from the dead happen it will definitely be a good enough show to call it Armageddon. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armageddon Cheers till the next one ;D
Theres alot of info about a polar shift taking place which indirectly would result in a shift in the solar rotation of Earth.. yes it would be something to observe..

In 21 st december 2012 , a huge asteriod/small planet is going to crash with earth , the impact would be so bad , earth will stop rotating around its axis for few hours , and then it will start rotating in the reverse way , so yes Sun will rise from west after 21st december 2012.
We believe also that there will be 3 days, one of them will last as if it was a year, then the next will last for a mounth, then the last will last as a week, then the days will become as usual, and that will be when the liar masseh appear.
It really is that "you believe" this or that your were told but don't dare to think about it fearing to find it a complete nonsense?
For me, it is just live life as life is, what God has planned for us is not something we can forecast or predict, might as well just make full use of life rather than waiting for it to come, what will come will come......
If that did happen, Which it wont, We wont be around to see any more sunrises, from the west or otherwise. We will all be killed instantly (well, within a few minutes).
