Isn't it sad in a way to see such positive comments on your articles on some websites but the credit goes to someone else. Of course, they have paid for it but I am sure fellow writers understand the feeling. Fellow writers, please share your thoughts on this.
I can't relate. I'm thrilled to see this. It means I've done my job and that I've likely made a long-term client out of the person I wrote the piece for.
I write to get paid, nothing more and nothing less. It puts food on the table. I deliver professional work to the best of my ability. When I'm finished, I attach the Word file in an email and click 'send'. Neatly dispatched into cyberspace. And that's it, I never give it another thought. Sometimes I see my articles in the No 1 slot on Google and I enjoy a brief moment of satisfaction, even though the article has been posted under somebody else's name. You see, I have absolutely no emotional investment in or attachment to these online articles. It is not like a piece of fiction you have lived with and crafted and edited lovingly dozens of times over months and years. Online writing is just a job. The moment I click that "send" button I've done my job and I really don't care what happens to it after that.
@AceWriter09, Its true.. Online writing is a job .. it puts food on table, pays the bills and such. Emotional attachment is there for sure .. at least in my case. I am for sure happy to know there are people who use my work, when my article is liked and commented by many. All I do is, write some articles for myself on my blog. I am happy when it goes up. That is a saver .. Sometimes when my article goes to top of google, I feel it would be great if the owner of the site endorses me or pays me a perk. What say?
Instead of feeling sorry, you must be proud that your skills are recognized by others. I can understand your feelings, but it is a common. A marketing person brings business for the firm but the owner reaps the benefit in the form of higher sales and profit, and the employee gets his meagre monthly salary. He can not even complain, or demand sharing in the business. In my view, the greatest gain for you is greater confidence in your own ability. Now, you can be more confident of yourself.
This is one of those questions where there is no right or wrong, just opinions. I have written work which has been published in someone elses name and I have done this willingly. I found this put extraa pressure on me as it is someone elses reputation which is at stake, but seeing my work, even in someone elses name is very rewarding in itself.
Try writing for an advertising firm, you *never* get the credit for anything you write. Oh wait...there is the paycheck.......forgot about that one.
No need to be sorry, I know that French is your 1st language and you do pretty good in English for the mostpart. But it's good to have a laugh once in awhile huh?
Seeing your work praised is good. Use it as leverage to up your rates. You'll be more in demand. Not everyone's work gets praised! Such an opportunity!
LOL. It's sad to get your article stolen, then someone else gets the credit. But with professional writing where one is paid to write for another site, that's a different deal altogether. You were paid by someone to write in their place. So the remuneration there is the amount you were paid for, not the credit or the byline. My two cents.
