Not necessary, but certainly recommended to use different anchors from time to time. As for description, that's usually not a problem. It has the potential to lead to duplicate content filtering for the directory, but usually not an issue considering the other listings in the directory.
Yeah I have been turned away from a few directories using my Gmail but once I resubmit using my domain email all is well.
Changing anchor text and description for submission brings better results in terms of link building IMHO.
Make sure if it is a tough directory with tough competition you include your site name. eg. Google - Internet Search Engine rather than, Search Engine
