Can your account get limited if someone sends you stolen funds through PayPal?

I've had it happen once or twice, and all that happened was, it said my account had "open issues". All I did was refund the money and say that I didn't know I was sent stolen funds, and then my account was back to normal.

I'm just wondering. When you receive stolen funds through PayPal, and PayPal puts a hold on those funds. You can still send/receive payments.

Is there any chance PayPal will ALSO limit your account on top of putting a hold on the stolen funds?

Well, as long as you are honest about it, I doubt they can limit your account. Just continue doing what you are doing and you be fine. The only time is that you perpetually get stolen money and do nothing about it or when Paypal request the money back, you refused to return it.

Yes, but verified accounts can still be hacked, right?

Thanks for your input, eddy. :)

Yup, verified accounts may not be probably verified in the first place. They could be people who signed up from some unsupported country and uses fake bank account and VCC to verify. Verified status does not mean anything anymore, sadly.

Of course the accs can still be hacked/phished. It always depends on how secure you a user is with his account.

yes your account will be limited..paypal takes notes these incidents fyi..however,theyll lift this if you follow the steps they say (your lucky if they lift it coz paypal wants your money stuck)..in addition, theyll have a keen eye with your account..they can limit it after each transaction..pm me if you have questions..

if some send you money using a stolen credit card or paypal account then more likely the fund will be reversal after sometime. but your account will not get limited for this but if too many reversal is made from your account then paypal will lock your account and you will never be able to use paypal account. so the best way to avoid a reveral is by refunding the payment you think was send by a stolen paypal account. if you refund the payment then you will not lose the paypal fees either... so just refund if you feel like send from at stolen account or card...

to refund a paypment at paypal, click on the details and below you will see the Refund Payment Option on the details page. just click there and the payment will be send back to the sender and you will stay clean...

Im assuming that had you not refunded the money, they would have frozen your account, because they probably saw you as an accomplice.
