When is the right moment to monetize your blog? I highly recommend you to build a good readership before to monetize your blog, but there are different opinions about this topic... what do you think?

I wrote a post about it in my blog, I would like to read your opinions about this topic...

If you are "unobtrusive" about the monetization... From the beginning...

Why spend all the time and effort if you don't have something to show for it?
However, I am NOT an expert, nor will I probably ever be one, as the times are always a'changin'... ;)

    Be Well!

i always had small and same sized ads from day 1, to really monitize it by integrating links into articles I would say once you have built up a reasonable following

As mentioned above, there's no reason why small unobtrusive ads should have a negative impact on your followship. However, I tend not to monetise with anything annoying (popups of any kind or video messages that just come on while I'm listening to music etc).

Like Loco, generally I will monotise as soon as I can. There's something very soothing about looking at your Ads glowing away on a spanking new site :)

I'm in the "monetize it from the beginning" group. As long as the ads aren't obnoxious, your readers probably won't object. It might be better for them to get used to the ads from the start instead of changing things around once they've been reading for awhile.

I started a blog that has 4 posts and is about a month old, and so far I've made $110 from Adsense and direct advertisers.

If you're not an idiot, monetize immediately. I made $20 in one day in Adsense alone a week after the blog launched. The problem is people who open a blogspot account, cover it with ads and write in broken English.

Several of my sites made in excess of $300 in their first months.

aslong as you are providing useful information on your site, I feel that it is ok to monetize it right from the begining. although if all you are trying to accomplish is filling your pockets with as much cash as possible, you will have a hard time monetizing it period.

You must provide useful information on your blogs or websites to get repeat visitors and customers.

Repeat business and loyal readers are a very key componet in builing a successful and lasting business.

From the beginning. If you build a readership with no ads on your blog, once you add those ads many readers will be turned off. Having ads from the beginning the readers know the ads are there and will always be there.

I suggest that you monetize form the beginning because seeing your sites make money (no matter how little) provides you with motivation to keep on plugging away.

It's really a hard question to answer. Many Blogger likes to Monetize their blog from the day one because they believe that i will get at least something even thoug it's very few. Suppose you have start a blog and want to Monetize it when you will get some visitor. Now you have got a readership and if you start to add ads on your blog many of your reader will take it negatively. Because they use to read your blog ads free!

In my opinion the best approach is to begin monetizing your site/blog right from day 1, no question about it. Just make sure that content is always fresh and useful for your visitors and keep them coming back and don't let advertising overpower your content which of course is most important if you want return traffic
